What's new in Horizon 1.7
See your open time and your week at a glance. Horizon 1.7 puts free time where you plan, adds a week view, and gives Life Patterns a closer look at your days.
Free time where you plan
- Tap the Free chip at the start of the category bar and the open time between your events shows in the list and on the selected day of the month view.
- Days with nothing on them show as open, so the easiest days to book stand out.
- Tap a gap to book it: the new event starts at the beginning of the gap and runs for the length you choose, or the whole gap if that's shorter.
- Free time counts every event, so filtering to Work never makes a family dinner look free. Declined invitations don't count.
- Settings › Free Time sets the hours it covers, the length of a new event and the shortest gap worth showing.

A week view
- Turn your iPhone sideways in the calendar to see the whole week on an hour grid. Horizon remembers whether you prefer Week or Month in landscape.
- Choose a category and its events keep their color, time and place while the rest of the week turns grey, so you see it in the context of everything else. Search does the same.
- Overlapping events sit side by side, all-day events have their own strip, and a red line marks the time.
- Tap an empty hour to add an event there. With the Free chip on, open time shows in green, ready to book.
- On iPad, switch with Week | Month in the calendar header, or press Cmd+2 and Cmd+3.

More room on your side
- On iPhone in landscape, the calendar takes the whole screen. New Event, Search, your Watchlist, briefings and Settings sit in the header.
- Category chips show only their icons there, so they fit beside the controls.
- The landscape month view now fills the screen.
- Find Free Time has a cleaner look and follows your week's first day. On its timeline the block follows your finger and snaps to the nearest 15 minutes.
Life Patterns, by time of day and by title
- Time of Day charts when your events start, or how much of each hour is usually booked, and opens into a weekday grid.
- Most Often lists the titles that keep coming back, with a week-by-week strip and their usual start.
- Days by Load, Day's Span, Between Starts and Mix round out the picture. Mix names online meetings for their service, so every Zoom call is “Zoom Meeting”.
- Beside Events and Hours there's now Times: how many different moments your day starts something.
- A week-by-week line sits under the Overview, and filtering by a category makes every card follow.

Smarter categorizing
- Quick Categorize shows one card per title. “Standup” is one card for all 40 of its events, and one tap covers them all.
- An event Horizon placed with less certainty wears a small hollow ring in its category's color. Review those guesses together in Settings › Manage Categories › Review Guesses, or leave them be.
- A calendar you've tagged with a category now settles titles that could go either way.
- A more specific keyword wins (“food bank” before “bank”), and “Dentist,” with a comma or “Drop-off” with a hyphen match now.
- Apple Intelligence sorts uncategorized events faster and in larger batches, and rests in Low Power Mode.

Watchlist
- Countdowns to all-day events read in whole days: “27d”, not “26d 10h 40m”.
- The trail lights up as you travel it, and a running event's card shows a sun crossing the sky.
- Suggestions favor trips and occasions over birthdays, and say why they're suggested.
- Compact Rows, in the ••• menu, keeps a long list short.

Little touches
- Pull to refresh looks the same on the dashboard, the briefings and Life Patterns, and a pull on any of them syncs your calendars.
- While Horizon sorts your events for the first time, calendar facts keep you company.
- Press and hold the category bar to switch between full and icon-only chips.
Fixes
- Quick Categorize can change a whole series from an Outlook or Exchange calendar.
- Hide Declined Events now finds invitations you declined, wherever your address is known.
- On the days clocks change, the timeline puts events at the right hour.
- Widgets and the Watch say “Ended” once an event is over, instead of “Now”.
- Opening an event in another city no longer changes the weather on your Today card.
- The Watchlist badge no longer counts events that have ended.
- Snoozing a reminder works when Horizon wasn't running.
- The CarPlay Live Activity shows the event's title again.
- Life Patterns' lists no longer close on their own the first time you open one.
- Editing a category's keywords keeps what Apple Intelligence filed.
